BACKGROUND
Personality: Call her arrogant, feisty, etc, Alena has been around long enough to know all her strengths and weaknesses and isn't afraid of confrontation. She is an unintentional heart-breaker, and has a lot of love to share (much to the dismay of her past pursuers), but just as much hate to share as well. Everything she does is out of passion, whether it’s an intimate moment with a lover, or partaking in the murder of an enemy. She is a sadistic masochist at heart and by nature, because she is addicted to the raw energy and life she feels flowing through her constantly (thanks to her Lycanthropy) and participating in such acts intensifies the feeling of living that much more. Alena’s actions speak louder than her words, for she often is a person of few words, but will always step up to defend what she believes in. People have described her as being cold and cruel, but in any situation Alena likes to have fun and does have her moments of ‘motherly care’, however rare they may seem to others.
Detailed History: Rome was founded in 753 B.C. under Romulus, who then assumed Kingship over the country. The King Romulus called out to criminals and other rejects and cast-outs from the societies neighboring Rome, and invited them into his new country, offering them amnesty and a chance to start their lives over if they would become citizens of Rome. Shortly after establishing his beginning population of criminals (made up of primarily males) the king invited the neighboring Sabine tribe to a festival in celebration. But during the festival, Romulus betrayed the Sabine tribe, capturing their female members to initiate them into Roman life (commonly known as the Rape of the Sabine Women). So it was that in a forced first encounter between an ex-criminal and a Sabine woman a baby girl was born, Annia Domitia Lupa (later to be known as Alena Wulf). Despite the rough beginning between Annia’s parents, they did grow fond of each other, and Annia grew up in a loving family environment.
Around the time Annia turned five years old, rumors were at a peak in Rome that her parents were heretics and worshiped dark and evil gods. Citizens became suspicious that Annia’s parents performed rituals to ruin the crops of their neighbors and made other such claims. It was at that time, before the accusations reached a level where retribution would take place, that Annia’s family left their home in Rome to start their lives over (again) in the Etruscan city Veii. The new culture rubbed off well on the young Annia, but yet she could not seem to socialize well enough to gain her peer’s acceptance, even as she approached the age where she should wed. Her inability to meet friends or potential suitors did not seem to faze Annia, even as she entered her teen years, and the bond with both of her parents remained her strongest relationship. They were eager to teach their daughter many things, and the family was devout in the worship of their gods through rituals and sacrifices.
It was when Annia was fifteen that she met her first suitor, Raven Lestat. Raven was not of Etruscan heritage, and seemed to just appear in the city out of nowhere. He was a mysterious man who had in fact loitered Veii for over a year, watching Annia before making his presence known first to her and then to the rest of the city. In all of his interactions with Annia, Raven was charming and kind. There was a sense around him that made Annia feel safe and yet like she was living dangerously, and she liked that feeling. He seemed deep and like he held centuries of secrets and information. And when Annia looked into his eyes, she could see his fondness for her and that he would share all he knew with her. It didn’t take long at all for the young Roman girl to fall for this bold and mysterious stranger. But still Raven kept his Vampyric blood a secret from his obsession, even restraining from making the move to turn her into a Vampyre like him.
Within a year of Raven revealing himself to Annia, however, the old rumors that had haunted Annia’s family in Rome began to catch up with them. That, and the presence and attachment of the handsome, affluent, and unknown Raven toward Annia sparked jealous retaliation from the people who had not accepted the girl from the beginning. The retaliation took the form of verbal assaults and accusations as well as threats and unwanted attention. It was bad luck for Annia and her family when a fellow towns-person happened to witness the ritual baptism her parents performed on her to celebrate her 16th birthday. The ritual included blood sacrifice and gave thanks to the wolf spirits her family had always honored. After that, Annia’s family found decapitated heads and bodies of rodents and other small critters on their land for about a week before Annia’s mother was charged with heresy and associating with devils and was burned at the stake.
The scrutiny of her and her parents and the death sentence of her mother did not sit well with Annia at all. Her mother had been her best friend, and her mentor, the love Annia felt for her mother, and her father, was so strong. She hated that her mother had been taken away from her so cruelly, and felt that she should share the same fate, because she had been, after all, worshiping in the same ways her mother had been. With all of the maddening grief Annia was drowning in, she became quiet, keeping all the melancholy inside, and she grew distant from her father. Despite his attempts to contact her mentally and let her grieve with him, Annia’s father could not reach her. And although he did everything in his power (and even a few things that stretched his power) to help his daughter in anything she might need, she fell away from him into silence.
Annia retreated into herself, becoming silent even around Raven, although it seemed her love for him grew even after her mother’s death.
She continued worshiping how she had been taught and began to experiment with other elements as well.
Not long after Annia’s mother was killed, Raven made known to Annia’s father of his intent to marry the 16 year old girl, to which her father agreed. After his announcement of engagement, Raven left Veii for over a year to send word to his home country and to retrieve a token for both Annia and her father.
While Raven was away, Annia held sacrifices for his safe travel. And on one night as the full moon came out, Annia performed a special ritual to bond her body and soul with the body and soul of her familiars and icon, the wolf. Her inspiration and motivation was to be able to call upon her beast-wolf if ever accusations were thrown upon her, her father, or Raven again; to protect the ones she was devoted to. Through the use of her magick and the favor certain devils had placed on her (inspired by Raven’s interest in Annia), that night she shed the skin of a mortal and took on the appearance and demeanor of a wolf. The change happened suddenly and painfully, and affected more than just her physical state, but also her mental and emotional framework. Annia found that even as she returned to her Human form that some of the effects of her transformation stayed with her (like the heightened state of her senses as well as her allergy to silver).
After Raven had returned to Veii, plans began for the wedding day.
On the night Raven had planned to finally change Annia into a Vampyre, she led him through a thicket to a spot where she carried out her nightly rituals. He told her of his fascination with her and how he was known as The Master, and would make her his mistress to reign and love forever. Annia watched his already dark demeanor change as he told her a brief summary of his history and stood perfectly still as his fangs grew to a sharp point. And though his hands caressed her softly against her cheek and waist, the passion piercing her neck as her love bit her became more prominent. But as Raven stepped back to watch Annia succumb to his virus, moments passed and Annia remained unaffected by the Vampyre trait. Alena is one of the few Lycans who is unaffected by a Vampyre's bite. At this time Annia was not put off by the sudden knowledge of Raven’s true self, and she felt comfortable to show him what she had been able to attain. After showing Raven the things she was now capable of, in wolf-form and human-form, Raven was astonished and remained quiet for a time. But the Vampyre King could not ignore the deep feeling he had for Annia, and thought perhaps that she would remain alive with him through centuries after all.
Raven and Annia left Veii that night, without informing Annia’s father, and together they traveled and fed. It wasn’t very long in their travels that the pair began to hear rumors of men who could take the form of wolves at night, and Annia was intrigued to find these men who seemed to hold similar powers as her.
But a few of the wolf-men found Annia first, either having heard of her or by using their animal sense, and they apprehended her while Raven was away and brought her before their leader. The leader was Mikael, and was called the Father of Lycans, and the Lycan’s King, among other things. He explained to Annia that he had been contacted by the devils who had allowed her transformation, and they told him that no more Lycans would be born by magick, and that Annia was the lone female Lycan. The Lycan’s King told her he wanted her to remain with him and the rest of the Lycans, but was kind and open to Annia.
Raven was able to easily locate Annia, and confronted Mikael violently at first; but the two were able to communicate quickly and a friendship was formed. Although Raven was dismayed at the role Annia would have to play in order to keep the race alive, he understood the importance and agreed with Mikael’s position. When Raven spoke to Annia about having to lie with others, even for the sake of the Lycan race, she became upset and profoundly refused. But with the help of Raven, Mikael impregnated Annia, and after that she bore more children for the rest of the pack. Annia became known as the Mother of Lycanthropy and was renamed Alena Wulf and was honored among all Lycans.
Over time Alena became more comfortable with the pack, and was glad she had contributed to its life. Raven, too, remained close with the Lycans.
In 638 B.C. the pack had grown significantly in numbers, and Alena was formally appointed a recently bitten Spartan, newly named Szandor Colden, to serve her and be molded by her. Szandor remained in her direct service for many centuries and was often sent abroad to do her bidding as well.
Centuries passed with relative peace between Vampyre and Lycan, thanks to the bond between the Vampyre King and his Lycan Lady. Meanwhile legends and folktales were told among the Humans of monsters who stalked their prey by night in beastly forms but could take the form of a Human by day. Out of the Human fear, few stood up as Hunters in opposition to the Vampyre and Lycan. At first the Humans were ignorant and many so-called Hunters met their demise at the hands of the night-walkers. But over time, Humans began to slowly uncover weaknesses of the Vampyre and Lycan races, and here and there members of each race would fall to a Hunter’s blow.
By 500 A.D. Alena and Raven had traveled to central Europe, where they met a Lord Alexander, who had been given immortality through a Demon’s blessing (or perhaps curse). Alexander was used to getting what he wanted, but he was also clever, and though his eyes were set upon Alena, the Lord greeted Raven warmly. Raven and Alena stayed with Alexander for a time, and during their stay Alena’s feelings toward her host grew. Although her love for Raven never faded, a love for Alexander was growing in her. When Alena expressed her feelings for Alexander, Raven was irate and heartbroken. The Vampyre King, killing all of the nobles and peasants occupying Alexander’s castle, stormed out declaring war against all Lycan-kind (hoping to win Alena back by a show of strength, but also venting anger and grief).
A trail of death and destruction followed The Master’s path across Europe, and in the following decades countless assaults were made upon the Lycans, killing many of all ranks. Numerous Lycans were taken hostage and were forced into the service of the Vampyre.
Alexander’s hate for Raven had begun the night they met, but now as declared enemies the Lord’s retaliation was swift.
Each attack against the Lycans issued by Raven broke Alena’s heart. She finally decided to leave Alexander, and tried many times to reach out to Raven before returning to the remaining pack of Lycans.
Alena walking out on Alexander hurt the Lord’s emotions and ego, and he retaliated by declaring that he had a new love, and with her they had three sons. One of which, Marcus, would end up Vampyre and the other, William, became a Lycan in its most primitive state.
But though Alena had left Alexander, the beginning of the great war between Vampyre and Lycan opened up a whole other mess that couldn’t be mended just by the reconcile of the leaders. And the assaults continued.
Raven managed to capture Alena and held her captive for a long period, where they were able to express the strong feelings they still felt for each other. Szandor was able to break Alena out of her captivity with Raven’s blessing.
At some point after that Raven located and slaughtered Alexander's sons.
Alexander had been on Alena’s side throughout the war, and Raven killing his sons only made him more determined to bring the Vampyre King down. But in the years of the Crusades, Raven snuck into Alexander’s home and killed the Lord personally.
The following years were hard for both Vampyre and Lycan. Leaders on both sides were killed, including the Father of Lycanthropy and his brother, among others in the Lycan side. But Alena was also able to slay Raven’s second in command among other prominent Vampyres over the years.
Alena and Raven met face-to-face many times over the years, and though the passion between them was still very much alive, they could not break through the fact that they were at war.
Over the years, Alena remained standing, surviving all of the fathers of Lycanthropy, and many of her children as well. She watched many of her friends and leaders die until she was finally alone among the first Lycans. The Mother of Lycanthropy alone stood responsible for her race. Szandor, Perrin (nephew of Mikael), and William (a pup bitten in the Viking Age) remained the strongest and oldest under Alena (older still lived, but were not as strong as these men).
Over one thousand five hundred years after the war between Vampyres and Lycans had started, Perrin Goldeneyes passed his gene onto a young German girl by the name of Adele Holst, and passed away. Around the same time, an illegitimate son of Perrin arrived at the Den and was taken in.
After the death of Perrin, a small host of Vampyres, including Raven’s new second in command, Victor Van Alberict, showed up at the doors of the Wolf Den in Sweden. One of the Vampyres had planted an explosive device inside the Den while Alena and other Lycans were distracted. Alena, Szandor, Geoff, and a courageous pup named Lena engaged in a fight with the Vampyres to defend their home. The Vampyres fought valiantly, but in the end Victor's love interest, as well as his other companions were killed, and Victor was sent packing, a limping, bloody mess, back to Raven.
After that victory, Alena took care to train the new Lycans at the Den, including furthering the progress of Geoff, who'd become a favorite of hers at the Den.
But all was not well with the Vampyres. After Victor healed, Raven learned that Victor had betrayed him and killed their third in command, Katla. Raven was furious, and Victory attacked The Master. Despite the Vampyre King's strength, Victor managed to gain the upper hand and killed Raven, taking his position. Word spread quickly of a change in Vampyre leadership, and the results could even be felt. Alena felt it in her heart and soul that her Raven had been killed. Many Vampyres paid the price after that. Lycan-kind gained the upper hand and drove many Vampyres into hiding, even re-taking Rome, a little that had long been lost to the Lycans. With the upper hand over the bats, however, there has been some recent dissension among Lycan ranks.
The rest will be covered on this site. =]
Fears: Her worst fears have already happened.
Strengths: She is the oldest and strongest of Lycans. Her experience and the powers she has as a Lycan are fearful.
Weaknesses: Silver.
Likes: The feeling of ecstasy that she gets from torturing others. And the feeling of life she feels when she, herself, is wounded. Though not all Werewolves feel the same, Alena has acquired a particular enjoyment of the taste of Human flesh.
Dislikes: The Vampyres who took away Raven. And some of the new technology coming out.
APPEARANCE
Facial Appearance: Raven black hair. Pale, ice blue eyes.
Clothing: Often times she wears nothing. But when she is wearing clothes, she prefers dark, comfortable clothing, and has sported a spiked collar in the past for irony.
Build: 5 feet 8 inches tall. Average/muscular toned.
Marks/Scars: Five red dots on the palm of her right hand. At times the dots connect to form the circle and star (pentagram). It is common to appear on Lycans (but does not always appear) and is referred to as “The Mark of the Beast”.
Role play Sample:
Alena was in the hallway between the kitchen and study on the main level of the house. Leaning over the remains of what use to be the lady of the home, she used her teeth to rip off the last flesh from the woman's thigh.
It was a nice house, situated in one of the wealthier districts. And it was occupied by a family of five; a young couple with their three young children (two boys who were twins, and their younger sister).
It was only by mere luck that Alena happened to catch the eye of the master of the house in town earlier that day. Erik was his name, and he was a confident young businessman who loved his family, but had a weak spot for taking risks and today Alena was the risk. He had invited Alena to his home, admitting that his wife and kids would be gone for a week; and the two of them spent the day together, carousing and 'playing' into the night. And it would have continued too, except that the 'Missus' and children returned home much earlier than they were wanted, just two hours after the sun had set. Erik's wife walked into the room just as Alena was forcefully tying the master of the house to the bed for their second round of 'Alena Says'.
Things hadn't gone so well after that. Alena couldn't actually complain, though, because she did enjoy listening as the enraged screams of Erik's wife turn to fear as Alena's body turned from a slender, naked woman to a monstrous, black-furred wolf in less than a second. Despite the fact that this woman had no hope, she wouldn't, or perhaps couldn't, shut up and insisted on screaming and crying even after Alena had ripped her arms off and slapped her around to the point where most other victims would have died.
The kids had been easy, of course; only mere appetizers for Alena. She felt nothing as she ripped their cute little bodies apart, and finished them quickly to return to their mother whom Alena had left to lie in her pain before dying of shock or blood loss or both. But the woman was still alive, whimpering softly and trembling, covered in her own blood and so completely helpless. The Mother of Lycanthropy smiled, although as the wolf it probably looked more like a grimace (they were the same for her anyway), and she bent over and finished the woman off, finally killing her.
Above her something bumped, and Alena's ears perked; she had left Erik alone and naked upstairs but there was no way he could have gotten out of the knots she tied. She dropped the woman's leg and headed for the stairs to have a look; the noise hadn't come from the master bedroom. But a smirk slid across Alena's face and she returned to her human form as she approached the room from which the noise had come.
Alena stood in the doorway of the room, naked, looking in at the young woman inside. There was blood on Alena's face, hands and feet, and she smiled pleasantly at the intruder, "What do you think you're doing?"
