Home at Last

[Alcaeus Artemisios]

Alcaeus walked into the city of Athens just after sunset. He was dead set on finding comrades. He had been alone for the vast majority of his life and felt the need of companionship and a desire to be needed by someone, anyone for anything. As he walked into the city he smelt something foul in the air. Yes, he knew that smell. He hadn't encountered that smell so strongly since he passed through Romania. The parasite. The so called "children of the night". Vampire. Alcaeus sneered in disgust. He kept smelling the air, following the stale smell of blood and death that seemed to cling to these parasites. He followed the stench until he came upon the Erechtheion. The foundations of which were said to be the home of the spirit of Cecrops, represented by a serpent. "Typical that I would find vermin in this place," Alcaeus said quietly to himself. He quietly slipped inside and crept in the shadows all the while listening and smelling for his prey. He caught the sent of something other than stale blood on the air. It was fresh blood. The parasites are feeding... now is my chance thought Alcaeus.

With as little noise as possible so that the feeding vampires would not hear him, Alcaeus transformed into the huge ash gray wolf. He rounded the next corner and there he saw the two vampires as they dropped their meal to the ground having completely drained the poor, old woman of all her blood. Alcaeus let out a snarl and the two vampires snapped their heads in his direction and gave a threatening hiss. For a second the vampires and Alcaeus stared eachother down then the great wolf bound at them and caught the smaller one in his jaws.

As Alcaeus ripped the first to shreds the second tried to make a run for it. He ran for blocks all the while thinking that he would make his escape from this foul beast. Never noticing the large, gray form jumping across rooftops silently stalking him. He rounded a final corner and slipped inside of an abandoned apartment building to hide until he was sure it was safe. "Funny place to hide insect," spoke Alcaeus back in human form sitting on an old night stand in the dark. "Haven't you ever seen scary movies? People who go into abandoned homes don't turn out too well." As Alcaeus approached the vampire panicked and attempted to rush and bite him. Alcaeus with an incredibly powerful blow sent the vampire flying into the cinderblock wall. As the beast attempted to rise Alcaeus grabbed him by the chin and back of the head with both hands. "This, my pathetic little friend, is where you go to sleep. Tell my great-uncle Hades i say hello."

And with that Alcaeus gave a violent tug and ripped the vampires head off. "Now that this messy business is taken care of I need to find my own kind. I can smell them in the air. Perhaps they will catch wind of this and realize I am here and find me and make my job that much easier." As a sign of his being present in the building Alcaeus made a slight cut on his wrist and before it healed he managed to paint the crescent moon symbol of Artemis on the wall above the vampire in blood. Hoping that any other vermin in the city would get the message.

Dark circles lined her eyes. Adele had tried sleeping, but t every sound in the house, she imagined seeing her father standing at the door, just waiting for her to look. And every time she closed her eyes, he was all she saw; that glimpse of him in the street. It had to have been him, but what really disturbed the girl was that she thought she'd heard his voice in her mind; thought she'd felt him. That typically only meant a small number of things, and none of them were comforting. Seeing him felt like meeting another Lycan, and that scared her.
Unable to sleep, Adele quietly left the villa, leaving its occupants behind. The throbbing in her head that had hounded her since she woke up this afternoon, worsened as all of the events of the day rushed back to the forefront of her mind.
Pulling her hoodie around her, the blonde walked deeper into the city. It always surprised her how quiet the streets of Athens could be at night compared to some of the other cities she'd been to. Szandor had told her that superstition among the Greeks often still held sway, but to see such care taken after the sun went down was intriguing. She'd never been so fearful of the dark and the unknown as a Human. Shit, she'd welcomed Alena and Perrin. Any physical proof of the other-worldly Adele wanted, needed, to make her Human life more tolerable.
In the near distance, a scream of protest went out, and the girl heard the thick, moist sound of aggression. The smell came at her from the alleyway quickly after, a smell the girl had had a lot of recently in Rome: Vampires. But there was something else there too. Beside the undead odor, there was the familiar scent of Lycan. An unfamiliar Lycan, but one nonetheless.
The girl continued toward the smell, interested in who this new Werewolf might be, and turned the corner of the alley without hesitation. The fact that there had been a Vampire nearby also interested her. The only Vampires Adele had ever seen in Athens had been visiting from Rome, and they'd completely kicked her ass. Since Rome had just been wiped clean of the blood-sucking scum, it wasn't too unlikely to think that some had escaped and retreated to Greece, but she couldn't help but wonder if it had been Rickter.
In the alley, she saw the man who must have killed the Vampires, and looked to the ground where the ash lay in an unceremonious pile. There was no way that could have been Rickter.
"Um," the word barely escaped her lips, and she had to silently clear her throat, "Hi. Nice kill." Pushing her hands into her black hoodie, Adele smiled side-ways, looking up at the Lycan before her with her golden eyes.

Alcaeus heard her speak as he wrapped a piece of cloth around his wrist to stop the bleeding. He cracked his neck and sighed with boredom due to how ridiculously easy this hunt had been. These vampires were clearly fresh. Very young, very... recently turned. They were incredibly foolish. To think to out run Alcaeus. Even if the blood-sucker had gotten away, Alcaeus would have tracked him down in a matter of days. If not hours. Alas though while not a particularly fun hunt Alcaeus greatly enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, and the slaughter of the prey.

He could hear the girl's breathing. Could smell that she was a lycan and smiled to himself. He had expected to find one soon, but his luck was pretty ridiculous to have found one before even truly beginning to look. He turned slowly and looked upon the girl with an almost critical gaze. Roughly 5.5 ft tall. Small build. Blonde hair. The golden eyes definitely intrigued Alcaeus a little bit. He had never truly seen any eyes quite like these.

They way she said nice kill so casually.. seems like she has had some fighting experience with these vermin. Alcaeus wondered if he could pull off a bit of a bluff and make it seem like the hunt had been more difficult that it was. Okay, Alcaeus thought, I have sat here thinking long enough. Maybe I should go ahead and answer the poor girl already.

"Good evening. My name is Alcaeus. I assume you know what I am. I can tell from your smell that you are like me. Do not worry about this pile of ash," Alcaeus said, mocking the dead leech with a bit of a chuckle. "He and his friend, were nothing to worry about at all. Unless they were just exceptionally stupid and weak, then it would be safe to assume that they were freshly bitten vampires. Foolish and easy to kill. I've sent them off to greet my uncle."

Alcaeus couldn't help but to smile at the young lycan in front of him. He didn't know exactly how young she was, but it was quite obvious that she was nowhere near as ancient as he. Alcaeus could not see the depth of 1600 years in her eyes. Before allowing the young blonde to speak Alcaeus quickly said, "I suppose you may have some questions for me. I can agree to answering any and all questions you have. On one condition. You must answer a few questions for me as well." With a sarcastic bow Alcaeus said, "με ρωτούν τίποτα. Ask me anything."

This is what Alcaeus needed. He would be able to gather some information from the questions she asked as well as give her the information she desired. Then, he would fill in the gaps with his questions and her answers. Alcaeus gave her a reassuring smile. Hoping she would take it as a sign of trust and well meaning. Maybe I should have laid off the sarcasm a bit, he though.

She smiled sarcastically when Alcaeus told her not to worry about the Vampires who lay as dust on the ground. She had not been concerned with them. The young woman had grown exponentially since her encounter with Rickter Rossenheim in Athens 7 years ago; that fight had been, after all, on her very first full moon as a Lycan.
She shifted her weight onto her left leg, watching this man, Damn, old Lycans are weird. Adele could feel that this guy out-aged her. Something about the air around him spoke of strength and wisdom in years; like he was her elder by a few centuries at least. He kind of felt like Szandor, and his Greek definitely made the blonde think of him. Weird, but at least he was being talkative. She never knew what to say to start a conversation, yet was always secretly thrilled to meet new Werewolves. But... wait. He wanted her to ask him questions? And for her to answer questions? Uh... Thinking of questions on the spot made her a little nervous.
Chewing the inside of her cheek, she contemplated this Werewolf. She did want to get to know him more, but was hoping he'd just tell her certain things. "I'm Adele... There may be other Vampires around... if you wanted to hunt some more, I mean." There was really only one important question she could think to ask; all other questions could wait until the answer of this one, as the answer of it would decide how the rest of this encounter would go. "What do you think of Alena Wulf?" She tried to ask it as neutrally as she could so as not to lead his answer.
